Question

Report Parameter for Formatting Report

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hello Community,

Has anyone ever created a report parameter that sets the format on the printed report?

For example, I have a small and large label. I created a parameter for “small” and “large”. I added an visibility expression to the report to print a different format based on the parameter selected by the user either “small” or “large”. Does anyone have any experience in this?

See label size field. Trying to get that selection to format my report (ie printing a smaller or bigger label). Thanks

I’ve done something similar, yes. What is your question?

@darylbowman thanks for the reply. How did you accomplish printing on report format over the other? Did you use two subreport, each has their own format and then use an expression to print the report based off of the parameter selected (ie small labels vs large label).

I think it depends what you're trying to accomplish. My use-case was different types of invoices. They were all the same size. I just showed / hid sections to get the right combination.

You could change the height by showing / hiding a fixed height section. I don't believe you'll be able to change the width though.

Some more details would help.

@darylbowman they are different size labels. The small label is 1x3 and the larger label is 4x6. I want to print the subreport for each respective label when the parameter is set to small (1x3) vs large (4x6). Same data prints on each label, just different size label.

I don’t believe what I’m asking for is possible especially with the formulas I have for printing the correct number of labels to the thermal printer.

Hi @etrojan28

There is a simpler solution if you don't already have the optimal implementation. Let's create 2 different reports. One report for small label, another for large label.

@nhatnghetinh that’s how they currently print now, as separate reports. Thanks

Hi @etrojan28

Make "Duplicate section" and create "VisibleExpr" condition for each section. For each section you will create fields with separate sizes according to each label size.

However, the common PageSettings of the report must be used for both types of label sizes.
