Configure a product on a blanket SO

Is it possible to configure an item on a blanket sales order?

I have a customer who uses the Product Configurator to configure items on sales orders. They are exploring using blanket sales orders, but it doesn’t look like configuring is possible on a blanket SO type.

I see that you can paste a config key on the line of the blanket order, which would be a possible workaround. But, the config key doesn’t transfer to the sales order when the SO is created from the blanket (the customer order number doesn’t transfer either...but that’s another issue).

I’m thinking of creating a customization that transfers both the customer order number and config key fields to the SO from the blanket. It’s frustrating that it doesn’t do this natively.

I believe it is this way because a configured item is not meant to be used on a blanket order since that is a longer time frame with the order.

Along with your customization approach, I would submit an idea to Acumatica for it as there may be other who would like or need this feature.

In Acumatica, blanket sales orders are typically used for setting up an agreement with a customer for providing goods or services at predefined terms, over a certain period. However, the ability to configure items directly on a blanket sales order might not be available out-of-the-box.

The Product Configurator is a powerful feature for customizing items per order, but if it's not integrating smoothly with blanket orders, there could be a few workarounds. You might consider setting up the configurations beforehand as distinct items that can be selected when creating the blanket order. Alternatively, there might be scope for customization where a feature could be developed to enable such functionality, depending on the specific needs and the flexibility of the Acumatica instance in use.

It might be best to discuss this with an Acumatica consultant or a technical specialist who can provide a solution tailored to your customer's unique requirements, possibly by creating a customization that bridges this gap.

Hi @donnadeskins55

You are correct, you can not configure from a BL order type. I tried to configure this before.

The SO order type has it

But the BL does not
