We have two warehouses where we manufacture; East & West. Most of our production (>80%) occurs in the West facility. We purchase most of our items to West and will transfer to East as needed (however there are still scenarios where we purchase directly to East.

We have set up re-order points in the West facility for many items that we typically hold in stock. We have encountered the following situation:

  • Item X has the following inventory balance:
    • East - 5250 units
    • West - 0 units

This item has been set up with a re-order point in the West facility at 5,000. However, since the total of both warehouses is above this re-order point, we are not being triggered to purchase in MRP. Additionally, since East has been set up to receive transfers from West (not the other way around), we are not being triggered to transfer from East to West.

Is this a normal scenario? How do we ensure, through MRP, that we purchase at our re-order point within West facility? Are we able to set the supply settings within MRP so it only considers the related warehouse?

@jwarren - do you have the item set up as “transferred” from the West facility? (Item warehouses form)

The West warehouse is set up in replenishment for Purchase with a re-order point of 5,000.

The East warehouse is set up in replenishment for Transfer from West warehouse with 0 re-order point.

The situation is that we have over 5000 units in East warehouse, however we need them at the West warehouse but MRP does not flag anything for purchase/transfer.

MRP seems to consider the re-order point based on total stock rather than by warehouse? Is this something that can be changed in preferences?
