Is there a way for the Daily Demand Forecast calculation within the replenishment parameters to consider production demand?

We are looking to use replenishment feature for the material that goes into an order, but looks like it ignores production demand and only considers items included on a completed Sales Order. Which would be our finished good and not the material used to make the finished good.

Hi jwarren,

Inventory Replenishment and its forecast features are based on sales statistics.

You can read more about this in this help article:

To calculate forecasts for material component items in production orders, Acumatica uses the MRP feature.

Inventory Replenishment and Manufacturing MRP are 2 distinct features within the system.

I hope this helps!

In an ideal world, we could use some of the functionality from the Replenishment features for the materials on our BOMs.

We will typically buy material in bulk based on min/maxes rather than on an order by order basis.

Example:

  • Each production order has anywhere from 1 to 25 screws let’s say.
  • We like to hold at least 500 screws on hand at any given time. We buy in boxes of 100.
  • If using MRP, system tells us to purchase only the amount per production order (i.e. 4 for AM0002, 6 for AM0003, etc.)
  • Ideally, the system would automate the purchase of 1 box of 100 once the on hand inventory balance drops below 500.

Am I missing something about MRP that satisfies this need?

Yes, you can use Safety Stock of 500 with Lot Sizes on Vendors set to 100 to meet this need.
You can also use a combination of Min. Order Qty. and Lot Size to fine tune the calculation further.

This help article has some good general information in it that might be helpful as well:
