MRP Display not linking purchase order back to production order item

Good day 

On the MRP display it show that i need to order stock from a production order.

However when we create the purchase order it does not link the purchase order back to the production order and the lines on the purchase order are created as goods for IN instead of goods for MFG.

This causes confusion as you cannot see if the order has been placed or what the order is generated for.

Build version is 22.209.0029

Does the MRP always order for stock instead of for production?

Creating a Purchase Order within MRP will not tie back to the demand document.

You would need to use the “Create Purchase Order” Process to have the PO document created specifically for the demand (Production Order)

Hi Angie, I understand that process and we figured out that from our side however, it is rather confusing why we would use the MRP as the related document is for a production order. The logic for this should be that if the related document is for a Sales order or Production order that link should be updated on the source document. Or is the MRP focused more on planned production orders?

Hi Angie, the other issue is that there is no tracibility what the purchase order is being created for. If you use the MRP Display there is no trace back to where or what the source is for the purchase order. Is there any way around this or to get the tracibility?

There is not.  Using MRP Groups or Days of Supply you would not have a 1-to-1 relationship between supply and demand - thus MRP does not try to link the two.   You would need to evaluate the value of a customziation to meet your use case.

No problem understood, We came up with a solution by adding in the related document onto the purchase order.
