Financial Close stopped due to Inventory module - but no unreleased documents

We have a client that has been stopped from closing multiple periods due to the Inventory workspace refusing to close.  There are no unreleased documents. All other modules close.  Accounts have been validated/recalculated in both Inventory and Finance. The dates and financial periods for Production Orders have all been forwarded to the next period so that they will not interfere with the close. Any ideas what could be stopping it?

Hello,

I would like to answer your question with more questions. 🙂 Please provide the following details:

Can you please show us a screen shot of the error that happens when Inventory module close is attempted?

Is there any additional information in Tools → Trace, after IN module close is attempted?

Can you show us the results on the two highlighted reports?

Does it make any difference (same error?) if you attempt to close both IN and GL at the same time via Finance → Manage Financial Periods?

Aside from the specific reports highlighted above, have you searched for unreleased/partially released documents in Purchasing and Sales Order module? Unreleased Landed Cost?

Think about when the IN closing last worked successfully and any unique situations, unique documents or workflows that happened.  Did anything change since closing last worked, like restriction groups added, companies added, version upgrades, new customizations?

Does the same problem happen if you attempt IN closing with all customizations temporarily unpublished?

I hope one of my ideas leads you to the solution.  Good luck!

Laura

The error when trying to close from Manage Financial Periods

The result of looking for Unreleased documents & Documents not posted to Inventory

The only hint received is from trying to close the Inventory module.

But, as I said in the first post, all the production document dates have been forwarded to financial period 07-2023.

We have researched all other documents that might have an effect on inventory - Purchase Orders, Sales Orders… They don’t use Landed Costs.

The processes to validate the database and its transactions have also been run.

This has been an ongoing problem since go-live.

Thank you for you help.

Hello @jmcclelland95 ,

Please check bellow Acumatia help documentation provided. Follow the instructions in the “Release Production Transaction Batches” section and ensure that there are no any unreleased documents.

@jmcclelland95 are all the completed production orders marked as completed and/or closed? are you able to click the “unposted documents” button when you get the error for inventory?

To close a period in the Inventory module, we need to Close the Completed Production Orders.

Question - do we need to close all production orders? Or the ones that were created in the financial period we need to close?

For example:

There are 10 completed production orders with a start date or created on date of September. 2 completed production orders with dates in October.

Do we need to close the 10 production orders with the September date? Or do we need to close all 12?

If we need to close only the 10, which date is the system exactly using? Created on, Order date, Start Date, End Date?
