Training Description: This webinar provides a set of lessons that illustrate the processes of construction project management in a midsize company. In the course, you will learn about the construction projects in Acumatica ERP. After you complete the course, you will have an understanding of how to create and bill construction projects in Acumatica ERP, and will understand the structure of the project budget. Also, you will learn how to track changes on projects, and how to protect project data from editing. You will also learn how to capture project costs, prepare project payments, and process subcontracts as cost commitments to projects. You will prepare and review construction specific reports. Finally, you will learn about the project management functionality, including processing of project issues, requests for information, and daily field reports.

Training Syllabus: The program is covered over four days as follows:

  • Day 1: Reviewing the Project Settings and Life Cycle. Subcontracts. In this session, you will learn how to plan a project structure, create a project and specify its settings, plan the structure of the project budget, and process a project during its lifecycle. You will also create a subcontract, add lines related to a particular project to a subcontract, and enter the accounts payable bill for the subcontract. Moreover, you will learn how to create a debit adjustment for an AP bill prepared for a subcontract; release the debit adjustment; review how the processed debit adjustment affects the vendor balance; review the GL and project transactions generated on release of a debit adjustment, and also review how the project budget is updated on release of the debit adjustment.
  • Day 2: Tracking Project Budget Overruns, and Cost and Revenue Changes. AP Bills with Retainage and Vendor Payments. In this session, you will learn how to create and process a bill with retainage held at the line level, release retainage for the bill, enter a payment for the retainage bill, and pay the outstanding balance of the original bill. You will also learn how to select the bills or bill lines to be paid, and how to prepare and release a payment for multiple bills for the same project. Moreover, you will configure a change order class that supports the two-tier change management and default markups, you will create a change request to update the project budget, process a change request with a cost change order and with a revenue change order.
  • Day 3: Billing Project for Progress with Retainage. Preparing AIA, WIP, and Bonding Reports. In this session, you will learn how to create a pro forma invoice and the related AR invoice with retainage, how to process the AR invoice with retainage, release the retainage from the AR invoice, and apply payments to invoices with retainage. Also, you will learn how to make corrections to a pro forma invoice that has the corresponding AR document released and review the previous revision of the pro forma invoice. Additionally, you will learn how to print and send substantiated billing, work-in-progress, American Institute of Architects (AIA), and bonding reports, and understand what information is included in them. After it, you will review the project lifecycle and performance with the help of Acumatica ERP Construction Edition reports.
  • Day 4: Processing Project Issues, Change Requests, Requests for Information, and Daily Field Reports. In this session, you will learn how to configure project management classes that may be used to ease the creation of project issues, define project issue types, report project issues, convert project issues to change requests and to requests for information, and also how to mass-assign project issues to owners. You will learn how to create and process a new request for information, create a change request from a request for information, and mass-assign owners to requests for information. Moreover, you will learn how to create and assign an approval map for daily field reports, create a daily field report and add to it different entities, and also you will learn how to email the daily field report.

Instructors: Candice Francis & Thomas Martin

Candice has 7+ years of experience in the construction industry. She comes from the Construction ERP market and joined the Acumatica team last year. During her tenure she has worked with a variety of contractors from General Contractors to Heavy Civil. Her experience has allowed her to understand the market requirements and deliver best of breed products that meet the day-to-day business needs of contractors. Candice’s continued focus is to enhance the user experience in the Construction Edition within Acumatica.

In addition to Product Management deliverables, Candice has experience in pre-sales demonstrations, consulting, and business process mapping.

 

Tom Martin is a Product Manager (Construction). In this role, he draws upon over 20 years of industry experience to ensure that Acumatica meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders. He has been working in the construction industry for 20 years in multiple capacities, focusing primarily on operational success including the implementation and management of software packages during that time. Mr. Martin time in construction has included roles such a Project Manager, Process Improvement Specialist, and Owner.

You should complete the Accounting for Projects course.

None.  Attendees will be provided with a cloud instance and tenant for training purposes.
