Acumatica WMS - Warehouse should be a default option for users

There needs to be a default warehouse that should be set by the user (or the device). While it is possible to have “warehouses inside warehouses”, in many use cases a worker will always be in the same warehouse. So the mobile app should assume that the user’s warehouse is that default warehouse, with the option to override (i.e. item lookup screen….it shoud default to the worker’s warehouse so this doesn’t have to be entered repeatedly.

I feel Acumatica could use someone in charge of tuning the site for performance. One of the little discussed dark sides of constant feature innovation is that there can be a tendency for performance to suffer as a result.For example, I was surprised that there doesn’t seem to be any plan to try to rearchitect the middle tier in conjunction with the move to Aurelia. Acumatica still has a pretty “thick client” approach to its stack, even though it is moving to adopt modern tools like Aurelia. Back in the bad old days of early .NET (remember code behinds?), it wasn’t really an option to asynchronously load the front end. You had to have all your data objects ready for presentation when the front end loaded. With modern asynchronous javascript, this is no longer the case, and so I think it is a missed opportunity to spend all the time to reskin the front end without focusing on the performance advantages that could also be gained by rejiggering the middle tier of the software.Just as an ex

Workwave Route Manager Integration forces Pickup and Delivery steps in Workwave

I have been prototyping the Workwave integration with Acumatica. In the carrier settings for Workwave, there is an option for “Route Type”. Workwave has the option for routes to be Pickup routes, Delivery routes, or both Pickup and Delivery.The problem is that when a Shipment is created in Acumatica, using the “Create Workwave Order” button in the shipments tab, it automatically creates both a pickup and delivery order in Workwave. And there doesn’t appear to be any way to stop this from the Acumatica side.Does anyone know how to fix this, so that a shipment from Acumatica only schedules a delivery in Workwave, and not a pickup as well? This problem creates a lot of noise in the Workwave application that then has to be dealt with manually (deleting all the unnecessary pickup orders). This pickup and dropoff setting isn’t really the key issue. It appears that under the hood, both the pickup and dropoff order steps in Workwave are being populated via the API, even though in most cases we

Inventory Pieces/Remnants - Any ideas on best way to deal with this?

We are in the metals industry, and one of the somewhat unique aspects of our business from an ERP perspective is that sometimes we will cut pieces of material that we sell into smaller pieces, per our customer’s request. So as a simple example, let’s say you have a 20ft x 20 ft piece of aluminum plate, and the customer asks for a piece that is 16ft x 18ft. We will cut that plate to size, and then have a remainder (what we call a remnant or a piece) that is left over. Sometimes we will directly scrap this remainder (not keep it around), and other times we will keep it on hand and sell it to another customer, or use it to cut another piece for a customer who may require a size smaller than that previously cut piece. We need to maintain heat/lot tracking of these pieces from the parent item.Does anyone have any clever ideas about the best way to program this in Acumatica? You could obviously create a new item every time you create one of these pieces, that is the exact dimensions of the p

LIFO Inventory valuation module - any interest?

Our company uses LIFO accounting, which is generally only used in the United States, however it is GAAP compliant.I am just curious if there is any interest out there for a LIFO accounting module in Acumatica? We will probably write some software to calculate the LIFO reserve for our own purposes. We use dollar value LIFO. Thanks, Jonathan

Volume-based price breaks at item class or price class level?

I know how to create volume-based price breaks for individual items in the Sales Prices worksheet. However, it would be a lot more convenient if we could set volume-based price breaks at the item class level. For example, if the customer orders over 1000 lbs, then reduce the base price by 10%.Is it possible to do this in Acumatica?

Please send your WMS developers to a warehouse for a week to hang out....they can come to ours

I am going through some of these mobile app workflows, and to be honest they really don’t make much sense. If you go to the “Scan and Receive” workflow, the first thing it asks you is to scan the warehouse you’re in. Then it asks you to scan the Location. Then it asks you to scan the item number.I’m having a really hard time thinking of any use case where this is the correct order of things. If you receive a shipment from another warehouse, or from a supplier, would the first action you take on a handheld device be to scan the current warehouse you’re in, and the current location you’re standing at? No! You scan the thing you’re receiving (probably a po or transfer order number… in some cases perhaps an item number or a vendor order number). And then the workflow proceeds from there. Maybe someone could already decide where to put that thing...and the system can then proceed to just tell you where it goes. And maybe that thing was shipped to a very specific warehouse, so the system can

Is there a way to programmatically tie into Drag and Drop Functionality?

I would like the ability to drag and drop sales order item objects from an external website into Acumatica. Acumatica appears to support some drag and drop functionality for files (https://www.augforums.com/forums/everything-else/drag-and-drop-files-into-acumatica-directly-from-outlook/).I would like to use the same kind of browser API to drag sales order line items from an external interface into a sales order. Is there any programmatic access to the drag and drop functionality in Acumatica? This is also related to copy/paste functionality as well I think. Thanks, Jonathan

Explanation of Path Field in Warehouse Location Table?

In the Warehouse settings screen, you define your Warehouse Locations in the Location Table. There is a field called “Path” in this table, but I can’t find an explanation anywhere of what this field does/what it means.In the Pick/Pack/Ship workflow, the handheld device keeps asking you to scan the nearest warehouse location. This never made sense to me, because there doesn’t appear to be anywhere in the system where you can tell it the distance between locations. So why would it care where you are currently, if it has no idea what the most efficient next location would be to send you to?So I’m wondering if this Path field maybe has something to do with Pick/Pack/Ship and its ability to distingish between Locations that are far away or close to one another?

WMS inventory entries don't go away once sold out...

Are we able to hide or get rid of quantities from the warehouse management system that have been sold out and are lot/serial tagged? Plus, I tried to enforce the mandatory entry of a lot/serial number, so I’m not sure why the system is showing an oversold item number that has no lot/serial identifier. But in any case, how do we make items go away from the WMS that have been sold out and may not be replenished, such as speific lots of that item (but still keep the master item number for different lots we’ll receive later)?

Acumatica Should Open Source the Mobile App

I have been playing around with a product called “Indoor Atlas”. It is a toolset for mapping indoor locations. In effect, it gives you the ability to have a Google Maps like routing experience, but indoors. For example, warehouses, office buildings, stadiums, etc...if you want the application to route your from where you are currently to the popcorn stand in the stadium, it can do that. Indoor Atlas uses some proprierary tech that leverages the magnetometer in most smartphones today (basically the compass), along with Bluetooth Low Energy Beacons and Wifi to locate users indoors. I have been working on using this with the WMS product we are rolling out.IndoorAtlas provides an open source Android demonstration application that is intended to get users up and running quickly with their SDK and toolset. Why does printing a label through DeviceHub require uploading a file to the database?

I have been going through the code required to print a label to a Zebra label printer in Acumatica. For those who are interested, below is the most minimal version of printing a label from DeviceHub using Acumatica Framework/C#. You can run this code in a PXAction, for example, in order to click a button and print a label. I have obfuscated the Guids, so that’s why they might look a little weird.The FILEID GUID referenced in the CreatePrintJob call can reference any file that has been uploaded to Acumatica. You just need to figure out its GUID, which appears in the URL when you open the file (and there are a bunch of other ways to figure out the GUID as well, including looking inside the database). Integrating third party WMS with Acumatica - tips, tricks, best practices?

I am beginning work on a custom integration betewen a third party WMS and Acumatica.The current paperless picking process in Acumtica seems to be not much more than a way to fill in some fields in the “Shipments” area of Acumatica. You can set the shipping qty of items on the order, set the packacking, etc. But that’s pretty much it.So it seems that at the point that a Shipment is created and any Hold status released, the order can be transmitted to the WMS for processing. I think it would be cool to have a line-by-line pick status for each item on the shipment, which doesn't appear to be a feature at the moment.Once the shipment is fully picked, then any packaging can be selected as necessary, and then the shipment can be confirmed once loaded onto a truck or Fedex/UPS.Anyone have any other ideas of things that need to be filled out by a third party WMS during synch with Acumatica? Obviously similar things need to happen for Purchase Receipts and receiving processes..

Does Acumatica limit server performance by license tier with a Private Cloud subscription, or not?

Acumatica markets its software as being sold based on the number of transactions the customer performs. So in theory, it should not care about the hardware specs of an individual client server that is running Private Cloud, as long as they are operating within the limitations of their transaction count (Acumatica will care with regards to servers it hosts on clients’ behalf, because there is a cost impact to Acumatica of provisioning more performant/expensive servers).However, if you look at the help documentation, you get statements like this with regards to Private Cloud subscriptions (https://help.acumatica.com/Help?ScreenId=ShowWiki&pageid=54ef574c-0adf-48a0-b5be-d3438a6e5400):When your organization purchases a Private Cloud Subscription (PCS) or Private Cloud Perpetual (PCP) license for Acumatica ERP, your purchase manager selects a License Tier, which limits the parameters that influence system performance. More silly mobile stuff - Unit of Measure in Pick, Pack and Ship workflow

Does it concern anyone that the “Pick Pack and Ship” workflow seems to be completely devoid of units or measure? Once you had added an item, it will show the unit of measure for a second, but once you’re onto the next item it’s gone. And NONE of the other screens will show you which unit of measure you picked. All the below screens are examples of how this workflow is completely devoid of units of measure. This is kind of an important feature, since the difference between picking (and selling) 1 pound of something versus 1 each of something that weights 1000 lbs is pretty big. So you don’t want your warehouse people to be confused about which they’re picking.This is just another example of a workflow that never got vetted by anyone in a warehouse. Sure, we can customize it to add this back, but should we really have to?

New Line Splitting methods - Can we have some examples and further documentation please?

It looks like there has been a major refactoring of how line splitting works in Acumatica, which is great news because this moves us away from the old kvstore approach, which was not performant at scale.However, there seem to be zero practical examples of how to implement this functionality. For example, let’s say I want to add a field to POReceiptLineSplit, and then pull that field back in a SOSalesOrderLineSplittingExtension. Workwave integration is bugged for Companies with spaces in their names

I’ve been working on debugging this one for a couple weeks now. Due to the fact that this project is not open source, and there is encryption being employed to verify requests, it took a while indeed to finally figure out where this bug was exactly. I have been circling it for a couple weeks, but I didn’t have the time to go all the way down the rabbit hole until now.The Workwave API functions by having the client set a callback url where Workwave can send requests when deliveries and other things occur in Workwave. This callback url must conform to best practices for urls, and therefore cannot violate the RFC’s for urls by, for example, having a non-url-encoded space in the url.The Acumatica Webhook feature, on the other hand, does not url encode spaces in webhook urls, and hardcodes the url for a webhook to the name of the site and the company, which can have a non-url encoded space in it...see red arrow. This is where we get into the catch 22 part of this particular bug. If you add

Multiple Purchase Receipts against a single PO

I am trying to figure out how to have multiple purchase receipts againt a single PO. For example, if a vendor shipped the PO in staggered shipments, and we want to have multiple receipts against that PO.Can someone post on how this is done? I see that the Purchase Receipt gets linked back to the PO in the “PO History” tab. But I can’t see how to add an additional Purchase Receipt once a single receipt has been entered...

General Ledget Subaccounts - Good or bad practice? Experiences?

I am prototyping the use of subaccounts for the chart of accounts/general ledger. As I am starting to play with this, I am getting flashbacks of previous experiences attempting to use Inventory subitems with Acumatica, which I considered to be a mess. It seemed like the general consensus when I brought up inventory subitems a couple years ago was that inventory subitems were anachronistic and had been useful when the software was at a less mature stage, but now were not considered best practice and shouldn’t be used for a system setup from scratch (they were still there to enable legacy upgrades, etc).Does anyone have any similar experiences with general ledger subaccounts? I recognize the old “subitem 0”, which was the same as for the inventory subitems. With inventory subitems, if you didn’t want to use a subitem, you couldn’t just have item number 43434. It had to be 43434, subitem 0. Which makes for a lot of extra fields and database entries in the system for no perceivable benefit

Configuring Branches without balancing entries vs. no branches at all

We are a company with multiple branch locations, some in different states. Most of the branches all perform the same selling functions, and we do not separately report financials for each branch (although we do some rollup reporting on each branches financial performance).There is a question on whether we should be using branches at all. For example, we could structure the software so that there is a single company with multiple warehouses (i.e. Seatle, Portland, etc), but no distinction between branches in the software.This would allow us to do single-step transfers between warehouses, for example. However, there is a question in my mind of whether this will hamper us in the future in terms of shipping material between branches (will the software be able to understand that the branch warehouses are geographically distinct if they are not attached to separate branches)?Does anyone have experience with doing this one way versus ther other? Report Designer Sales Order Form SO641010 - Output Grid in PDF Format?

I am developing what I think should be a pretty straightforward Sales Order form. For the transaction lines, I would like to have a grid format where there is a border around each cell. This works fine if I put a border around each cell in the detailSection1 part of the form (I have adapted this from SO641010.rpx… the out of the box Sales Order printed form for Acumatica). When I preview this in Report Designer, I get my grid with borders and everything is good. However, if I output to PDF, then only some of my vertical borders appear, and no horizontal borders around each cell.Preview in Report Designer (or in Acumatica with PDF Preview disabled)... Output in PDF Format… grid lines are basically gone I have seen some previous hand wringing about this in other posts. I don’t need this to work perfect (it obviously doesn’t), but I just need A way to do this. If it involves a specific configuration for each individual cell, so be it. But can someone demonstrate a working way to create a
