How do you enable this feature if it is not listed in the Enable/Disable Features for an instance in trial mode?

Paperless Picking feaure for 2021R2

I was able to locate the customization with some help from Acumatica. Please refer to the following KB article for the package
Turns on or off - New WMS Engine
The customization when published in 21R1 and 21R2 will expose a switch on the Inventory Preferences Screen, Tab Warehouse Management.
The switch is labeled Use Legacy Engine.
To be able to use Paperless Picking you have to Uncheck this box.
The new WMS Engine will be mandatory starting in 22R1.
For customers with data, they will continue to use the old WMS Engine, after the upgrade.
For new customer s the default will be the New WMS Engine.
After you publish it, and change the setting as desired.
Then go to Apply Updates and under the three dots Select Reset Caches.
Then go to Enable Features and check to see if you can now see Paperless Picking. Under Warehouse Management» Fulfillment.
Once you have changed the switch Acumatica advised to unpublish the customization and removed.
When you do this the switch in Inventory Preferences Tab Warehouse management will no longer be visible. But the system will keep the setting you set.

+3it does not: The functionality is available if the Paperless Picking feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form and the new Automated Warehouse Operations Engine is in use.
There is no feature in 2021R2 to enable it not is there a switch anywhere to turn on this new engine that I was able to find. The article references another article for developers to customize 2021R1.

Do Acumatica customers still need to buy the WMS software add-on?

Because there is no Paperless Picking feature in 2021 R1.

In general, when downloading anything which is claimed to be provided by Acumatica Support, make sure that it is indeed posted by Acumatica team member. Remember that customizations could potentially dangerous things, for example upgrade scripts that could potentially ruin your data.
