I am testing serial number behavior for Production Orders linked to Sales Order line.

If I pre-populate desired user-enterable Serial numbers on the Line Details tab of Production Order Maintenance, I am expecting that those exact serial numbers would be the choices when I do the final move transaction to put the finished goods back into inventory.

 

On my Move transaction, I expect to see those same 5 serial numbers that I said I was producing to be available in my final move, but they are not available:

 

 

Am I missing a configuration somewhere perhaps? I do not understand the intent of pre-populating the serial numbers on Production Order Maintenance  if they are not available for selection during the Move transaction.

@gbrazelton14 - on the Production Order - did you select “Preassign Lot/Serial”?

@Debbie Baldwin  - Yes, the production order is marked for Allow preassigning Lot/Serial numbers.

@gbrazelton14 - there is a known issue on this, please log a Support case. It should be doing what you are asking for.

Did anyone get a fix on this? I am seeing the issue in 2024 R1 that between my move transactions I can’t select a lot or serial number. Upon the final operation it just completes the Production order and then seems like serial numbers are going in FIFO into inventory. I would like to have my users choose serial numbers during the move transactions. 

@ngerst  I think I gave up on my case as the behavior I was seeing did not match what the support person was seeing. This customer is printing a custom label during manufacturing that includes the serial number in the production order lot serial table, so they ended up just scanning in the serial numbers from the label into the move transactions.

Thank you, my struggle is they show up but when i select them for the move they just end up going away. I was thinking maybe I have a setting somewhere that is moving them in FIFO format and not allowing me to select them. Thanks for the information!
