Question

Allocations

Every month expenses are accumulated in an account/subaccount combination that identify an expense account and cost center in which equipment repairs have been performed.

At the end of each month these equipment repairs are to be reallocated, to a fixed set of 5 account/subaccount combinations. The allocation percentages will depend on the source cost center and will be on a different percentage basis, depending on the percentage of time spent working on the equipment for respective departments.

The desire is to build a history of allocation rules, ideally by using a statistical ledger with the different allocation percentages.

I can't figure out how to have a different set of percentages apply to the allocation from each source unique cost center when the destination accounts/subaccounts are constant without building a different allocation for each source/cost center;  that could number in the dozens or more VERY quickly

Hello,

Consider importing, with an Import Scenario, the volume of different Allocations by account to accommodate each source having different percentages.

Another idea is to use Velixo Excel reporting tool to pull out project figures and to produce GL batches, and use Velixo to write-back these GL allocation batches to Acumatica’s Journal Transaction screen.

Thank you Laura,

We have settled on having a different allocation for each combination of subaccount segment and branch and pushing the statistical ledger data into Acumatica from Velixo. We’ll have about 150 allocations but they don’t mind that and it’s relatively static unless they were to add another piece of equipment (which would be another segment value and would mean copying an existing allocation and modifying some configurations. It’s manageable this way but definitely could benefit from within the allocation screen to be able to specify exactly which source account was to be processed against which destination account in addition to the base account configuration.
