This software is from https://www.seagullscientific.com/ and it supports XML input.  Client needs to print various types of product labels and currently they use BarTender.  Do not want to write code or API’s.

Bartender has a few options when it comes to data sources. I’d recommend looking into using database connections so you can use Acumatica export scenarios or connect directly to your Acumatica DB.

A database connection from BarTender is only an option if you are hosting Acumatica yourself and have direct access to the database server. On SaaS environments, this is usually not possible.

You could work around that by using CData, which will basically make the Acumatica inquiries and OData endpoints accessible through ODBC: https://www.cdata.com/odbc/

Hello Dennis,

I would recommend checking out Acumatica’s ISV partner Minisoft. Minisoft has a robust forms and labels generation tool called eFORMz. Currently, eFORMz has rapidly been displacing bartender across a variety of verticals.

Here is a quick 1 min video on eFORMz functionality » https://vimeopro.com/user39510018/minisoft-corporate/video/387749763

The Solution has direct integration with Acumatica and is a certified application. An Acumatica user can utilize eFORMz to produce a variety of laser forms and thermal labels, including product labels.

A customer mentioned the Enterprise Edition of Bar Tender has API’s that can be used to integrate with Acumatica.  https://www.seagullscientific.com/solutions/integrations-and-technology/erp-and-business-systems/

Dennis,
I don't know much about Bartender's capability to integrate with Acumatica, or the professional services it would take to make that happen. But I would be happy to talk to you about eFORMz, a direct competitor to Bartender that supports not only thermal labeling but laser documents as well. Minisoft will be at the Acumatica summit next week, booth #77. If you are attending please swing by. I would be happy to speak to you then if you decide to explore all your options.

Regards,

“Do not want to write code or API’s.”

As someone who has been down the Bartender road before, as well as looked at other label printing solutions, I would encourage you to rethink this attitude. Whether you customer has 300 label printers in 30 different locations, or a single label printer in one location, hiring someone who is an expert in your particular brand of label printer and can customize some labels and write you a quick integration may be the best money you ever spent.

If you are changing your label templates every 5 minutes (not the label data…..the actual design template), then you may want something like Bartender (although we’ve been down that road before and I wouldn’t recommend it). If your labels will remain relatively static once designed, invest in someone who knows what they’re doing and have them make you stored format template on a Zebra printer with a nice integration to Acumatica.

@dennisgodsill36 What solution did you end up with? We started using Asgard, but are realizing it isn’t built for a retailer that needs thousands of product labels for our brick and mortar store. It sounds like your client might be similar to our operation?
